Events & Conferences

The GHI organizes international scholarly conferences on a wide variety of historical topics in cooperation with historians at North American and German universities. The Institute also organizes public programs and lectures throughout the year featuring renowned German and North American scholars who present their research to a wider public in both the greater Washington area as well as in the San Francisco Bay area through our Pacific Regional Office.

All lectures are open to the public unless otherwise noted. Conferences are not public. If you are interested in participating, please contact the responsible GHI staff member.

*** In response to COVID-19, the German Historical Institute is closed for visitors until further notice. Unless otherwise noted, all events will be held virtually. ***
