America's Right: Conservatism and U.S. History

Julian E. Zelizer is Professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton University. An expert in the field of American political history, he is a frequent commentator on contemporary political issues in the national and international media. His research has focused on the history of political leadership, policies, and institutions since the New Deal. Prof. Zelizer's most recent publications include Governing America: The Revival of Political History (2012) and (co-authored with Meg Jacobs) Conservatives in Power: The Reagan Years, 1981-1989 (2010).

This keynote lecture is part of the conference " Inventing the 'Silent Majority': Conservative Mobilization in Western Europe and the United States in the 1960s and 1970s" taking place at the GHI on April 18-20.
