A Different Sort of Neoliberalism? Making Sense of German History Since the 1970s

Paul Nolte is professor of modern and contemporary history at the Freie Universität Berlin since 2005, and director of FU Berlin’s Dahlem Humanities Center since 2016. He has been a fellow or visiting professor at Harvard University, the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, UNC Chapel Hill, Historisches Kolleg Munich, and St Antony’s College, Oxford. His work in recent years has centered on the history and current transformation of democracy, on public intellectuals and historiography in the Federal Republic, and on transatlantic history. He has been chief editor of the quarterly journal Geschichte und Gesellschaft since 2004. Paul Nolte frequently comments on historical and political issues in German and international media.
