Studying the History of National Socialism and the Holocaust: Toward an Agenda for the 21st Century

Research on the history of National Socialism and the Holocaust has spawned an ever increasing variety of new studies. The history of everyday life, perpetrators, society, and Europe in a cross-border context; the impact of ideology, racism, and gender; and the postwar legacies have all added new dimensions to our understanding of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
As a capstone to a two-day workshop on the current and future directions, topics, and methods relevant to this field, the GHI and the USHMM invite you to attend a panel discussion to present the findings to the public. Panelists Frank Bajohr (Institute of Contemporary History Munich/Center for Holocaust Studies), Christopher Browning (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), and Wendy Lower (Claremont McKenna College) will review the themes and issues raised by the workshop participants. A general discussion will follow the panelists' presentations.
