The Luther Decade and Reformation Quincentenary: A First Assessment

GHI West, the Berkeley Office of the German Historical Institute, Washington DC, co-presents a lecture with GHI founding director Hartmut Lehmann, one of the best known German historians of the tumultuous age of Reformation. Hartmut Lehmann is a past Director at the Max Planck Institute for History in Göttingen, and a former research fellow at the University of Chicago, Princeton University, and the Australian National University in Canberra. He is a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Two local Luther Scholars, Chris Ocker of San Francisco Theological Seminary/GTU and Kirsi Stjerna of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary/GTU will be commentators.

This free and public lecture is hosted by UC Berkeley’s Department of History and is co-sponsored by GHI West, by the Institute of European Studies at UC Berkeley and by the Berkeley Center for the Study of Religion.
