#2 Town Hall Meeting of the German Association for American Studies (GAAS)

Panel Discussion (Virtual) | Organized by PGF Team Stuttgart and GHI Washington
The #2 GAAS Town Hall will take place on Friday, March 5, 2021, between 9 and 11 AM (ET) and is organized in cooperation with the PGF Team Stuttgart (and DC) and the German Historical Institute Washington (GHI). This event is for all GAAS members and will address the career paths of non-tenured scholars.
The event will start with a panel discussion that brings together scholars from different stages in their academic career to share their experiences on challenges and opportunities and to offer guidelines on career paths. This part will address the following topics: a) the risk of becoming a scholar b) doing research and teaching (under pandemic conditions) and c) structures, hierarchies and dependencies in academia. The second part will open up a discussion forum for everyone to raise their concerns and ask for advice and recommendations.
