Six months after the 2021 German federal elections, Social Democrat Olaf Scholz has formed a 'traffic-light' coalition government with the Green Party and the Liberal Party. IES invites you to a panel event on the foreign policy challenges faced by the new government in Germany. Covered topics will include the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the future of NATO, the impact of Covid 19 on EU integration, EU-Africa relations as well as US-EU relations. IES Associate Director Akasemi Newsome and Sören Urbanksy, Head of the Pacific Office of the German Historical Institute Washington, will moderate a discussion featuring expertise from Charles M. Huber, former German Parliament Member (CDU 2013-2017), Sudha David-Wilp, Deputy Director, German Marshall Fund of the United States (Berlin Office) and Oliver Schramm (Consul General of Germany in San Francisco, CA).
