The novelist, playwright, essayist and curator Sasha Salzmann was a co-founder of the culture and society magazine “freitext” and artistic director of STUDIO Я at the Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin. Salzmann’s theatre works have been translated into more than 20 languages and have been awarded, among others, with the Art Prize for Performing Arts of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. Both of their novels, “Beside myself” (2017) and “Glorious People (2021) were nominated for the the German Book Prize and received several prizes and honors such as Hermann Hesse Prize and the Literaturhaus Award. In 2024 Sasha Salzmann is the laureate of the prestigious Kleist Prize, which celebrates their literary oeuvre.
Molly Krueger is a PhD candidate in the Department of German with a Designated Emphasis in Jewish Studies. She received her MA from UC Berkeley in 2019 and her BA in German from Bowdoin College in 2013. She is currently at work on a dissertation that focuses on questions of history, memory, temporality, and literary form in contemporary German-Jewish writing.
Tamara Loewenstein is a curator & cultural organizer based in San Francisco. She has worked at the intersection between the arts, education and social justice for more than a decade. Her practice weaves together history, identity, and political activism. Her recent work takes up the intersections between memory culture and Jewish futurism and empowerment. She currently serves as Program Curator for Arts & Culture at the Goethe-Institut San Francisco.
