DCHDC Meetup: Digital Art + GLAM - Creation, Conservation, and Experience

Feb 19, 2019

Speakers: Dan Finn, Lena Galperina, Tahir Hemphill

At this month's meetup, we'll discuss digital art in GLAM spaces with speakers from Smithsonian American Art Museum, ARTECHOUSE, and the Library of Congress.

Dan Finn, Media Conservator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, will discuss his work on Nam June Paik's "Megatron/Matrix".

Lena Galperina, ARTECHOUSE's Visitor Experience Director, will discuss digital art from the audience perspective and how as a space we share this new digital medium.

Tahir Hemphill, recent Papamarkou Chair of Education at the Library of Congress, will discuss his recent event playtest and the future of storytelling.

Digital Cultural Heritage DC is a monthly meetup group for people interested in collecting, preserving and making available digital cultural heritage information. Our meetings begin with a few short lightning talks followed by social information exchange. This is a great networking opportunity for students, as well as anyone interested in learning about digital collections in archives, museums, libraries or anywhere else. We're interested in digital content of all kinds, including film/video, still images, text, datasets, video games and pretty much anything of value in digital form. We are an open and friendly group, and welcome all comers.
