The GHI’s print and digital publishing program advances research, supports historians at all career stages, builds academic networks, and expands access to scholarship and professional opportunities.
We publish two book series:
- Publications of the German Historical Institute (PGHI), with Cambridge University Press, is an English-language series covering German/European and Jewish history; the Americas and transatlantic history; and global, transnational, and transregional history.
- Transatlantische Historische Studien (THS), with Franz Steiner Verlag, is a German- and English-language series focused on North American history and transatlantic relations from the early modern period to the present.
Both series feature GHI-supported research and prize-winning monographs by early-career historians. Both series also publish first books and Habilitationsschriften by scholars without prior GHI affiliation. Recent PGHI and THS titles, along with some titles from our former Studies in German History series (published with Berghahn Books), are available as downloadable Gold Open Access PDFs.
Our twice-yearly Bulletin of the German Historical Institute spotlights GHI research and events and announces upcoming events, fellowship competitions, and professional opportunities. It is available in print and as Open Access.
