Biographical Summary

Heike Friedman joined the German Historical Institute Washington in 2017 to help launch its Pacific Regional Office in Berkeley. As Program Officer, she organizes academic conferences and public lectures, supports visiting fellows, and helps with public relations, grant writing and reporting. A German native, Heike has lived in Berkeley for over 25 years. She received her M.A. in German literature from the Ruhr-University Bochum. Her professional background is in journalism, public relations, and fundraising.
