Biographical Summary

Paige Newhouse is a historian of modern Germany with interests in Vietnam. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Michigan in 2026 and 2021 and her B.A. from Duke University in 2017. Her scholarship explores race, migration, and citizenship through the lens of Vietnamese migrations to the GDR, the FRG, and post-unity Germany. Newhouse completed research as a graduate student researcher in the Department of Diversity and Social Conflict at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. Her scholarship has been supported by the German American Fulbright Association, the Central European History Society, Rackham Graduate School, and the Weiser Center for Europe and Eurasia, in addition to the German Historical Institute. She has also been awarded multiple Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships to study Vietnamese.
