The Friends of the German Historical Institute Washington award Fritz Stern Dissertation Prize to Tamar Menashe

April 29, 2022

The Fritz Stern Dissertation prize will be awarded at the 30th Annual Symposium of the Friends of the German Historical Institute Washington on May 13, 2022.

The 2022 Fritz Stern Dissertation Prize will be awarded to Tamar Menashe (University of Pennsylvania) for her work on “The Imperial Supreme Court and Jews in Cross-Confessional Legal Cultures in Germany, 1495-1960” (Columbia University, 2022). In her presentation, Dr. Menashe will provide insights into her research. Please note, as the GHI returns to hosting its first in-person events since 2020, it is required that the attendees adhere to the institute’s vaccination and mask standards to ensure the safety of everyone.

Since 1997, the Friends of the German Historical Institute have awarded the Fritz Stern Dissertation Prize for the best doctoral dissertation on a topic in German history written at a North American university to honor the legacy and achievements of Fritz Stern (1926–2016).
