John Eicher, GHI Visiting Fellow in the History of Migration, has won the 2017 D.C. Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize

John Eicher, the GHI's 2016-17 Visiting Fellow in the History of Migration, has won the University of Iowa's 2017 D.C. Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize in the Humanities and Fine Arts for his dissertation “Now Too Much for Us: German and Mennonite Transnationalisms, 1874-1944.” The D.C. Spriestersbach Dissertation Prize was established to recognize excellence in doctoral research in four broad discipline areas at the the University of Iowa - humanities and fine arts, biological and life sciences, mathematical and physical sciences and engineering, and social sciences. As a recipient of the prize, John will also be the University of Iowa's nominee in the national competition for the Council of Graduate Schools/University Microfilms International Dissertation Prize.
