GHI WEST hosting the first Bucerius Young Scholars Forum

January 6, 2017

Our new branch office GHI WEST has just started up and is already engaged in one of its organizational goals: supporting the work of young scholars. GHI WEST will be hosting the Bucerius Young Scholars Forum, a new program designed to bring together young researchers from Germany, Europe and North America at its new base at the University of California, Berkeley. Entitled “Histories of Migration: Transatlantic and Global Perspectives”, the forum is designed to enable young scholars to jointly develop new research questions in the history of migration. One of its aims is to look at the phenomenon of migration from cross-cutting perspectives that span regions, disciplines and time periods. The program is generously funded by the ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius.

Applications will be accepted through February 15th, 2017; the forum will take place in November 2017 at GHI WEST/ UC Berkeley. The German Historical Institute encourages postdoctoral researchers and doctoral students in the final phase of their dissertation to apply.
