GHI Welcomes Simone Lässig as New Director

Simone Lässig has taken up her appointment as the new director of the GHI on October 1, 2015. Lässig comes to the GHI from Braunschweig, where she served as Director of the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research and Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Braunschweig since 2006. She will be on leave from both positions during her tenure as GHI Director. Lässig is delighted to return to Washington and the GHI, where she served as Research Fellow from 2002 to 2006, and looks forward to working with American colleagues. During her directorship, she is planning to make the history of knowledge (Wissensgeschichte) a research focus at the GHI.
