GHI Visiting Fellow alum Julius Wilm awarded Offermann-Hergarten Dissertation Prize

Congratulations to Julius Wilm, our 2019-20 Gerda Henkel Fellow in Digital History, who won the Offermann-Hergarten Dissertation Prize.

The prize was awarded for his dissertation "Settlers as Conquerors: Free Land Policy in Antebellum America." The resulting book also appeared in the GHI's series with Franz Steiner Verlage Transatlantische Historische Studien. Awarded by the Offermann-Hergarten Foundation, the Offermann-Hergarten Dissertation Prize is given for special achievements in the humanities at the Universität zu Köln and is intended to promote the work of junior scholars.
