Former GHI Tandem Fellow Susanne Schmidt awarded two prizes

Congratulations to Susanne Schmidt for winning the GWNT Förderpreis for her dissertation "Midlife Crisis. The Feminist Origins of a Chauvinist Cliché" as well as an Article Prize of the journal NTM - Zeitschrift für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, Technik und Medizin.

The Society for the History of Science, Medicine and Technology e. V. (GWMT) awarded the 2021 "Förderpreis" to Susanne Schmidt (Berlin). Susanne Schmidt was awarded for her dissertation "Midlife Crisis: The Feminist Origins of a Chauvinist Cliché" published by the University of Chicago Press.The award recognizes and promotes research work by junior scholars in the field of history of medicine, natural sciences and technology. Susanne Schmidt was a Tandem Fellow in the History of Knowledge at the GHI for the 2019-2020 academic year along with Jamie Cohen-Cole (George Washington University).

Susanne Schmidt also won the Article Prize of the journal NTM - Zeitschrift für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, Technik und Medizin for her article "Environmental Being. Motherhood, Development, and Psychology 1930-1990," Susanne Schmidt was awarded . The article was published as part of a special issue under the title" Cocooning. Environment and Gender in the Social, Human and Life Sciences," which Susanne Schmidt edited together with Lisa Malich. The prize is awarded to the best article from the fields of history of science, technology and medicine.
