Biographical Summary

James McSpadden is a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC. Prior to coming to the Institute, he studied at Yale University (B.A.), at Leiden University (M.A.), and at Harvard University (Ph.D.). During the summer of 2018, he completed a comparative dissertation on political and parliamentary culture in interwar Europe. At the GHI, James McSpadden is working on a research project on European books that were confiscated and sent to the United States by American occupiers after World War II.
