Biographical Summary

Chelsea Schields is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of California, Irvine and a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C.  She holds a Ph.D. from the CUNY Graduate Center, where she completed a dissertation on the sexual and racial politics of decolonization in the Dutch Caribbean. At the GHI, she will begin a new research project on the reception of black family studies in decolonization-era Europe.
