Biographical Summary

Anna Ananieva is a Tandem Fellow in Global and Transregional History at the German Historical Institute in Washington. During the academic year 2019-2020 she also joins the BMW Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University as a Visiting Researcher. Ananieva completed her University degree at the Kazan State University in Russia and received her PhD from the University of Giessen, Germany in 2009. Then she taught and was engaged with research projects in Bonn, Mainz, Vienna, London and the University of Tübingen, were she is completing her Habilitation.

Ananieva was curator and co-curator of several exhibitions; she consulted on a documentary series for the Franco-German TV network “Arte” on Eastern European gardens, and has published 2 monographs, 4 edited volumes and 2 themed issues of journals leading in the field.
