The Oral History Association

Founded in 1966, the Oral History Association is a society of scholars, students, local historians, and others concerned with the application of professional standards to the collection, preservation, dissemination, and uses of oral testimony. It serves as a bridge between scholars of various disciplines and also between these scholars and librarians, archivists, teachers, journalists, authors, and others engaged in recording personal and institutional histories.
Members of the Oral History Association exchange views and learn of new developments through its annual meeting, the quarterly Oral History Association Newsletter, the semiannual Oral History Review, and the pamphlet series. The Association has also established a set of principles and standards and has developed standards for evaluating oral history techniques and output which are published in the Evaluation Guidelines.
