The German Minority in Interwar Poland by Winson Chu has received the judges' commendation in the 2012 competition for the Fraenkel Prize in Contemporary History. Chu, an assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, was awarded the 2007 Fritz Stern Dissertation Prize by the Friends of the German Historical Institute. The German Minority in Interwar Poland, his revised dissertation, was recently published by Cambridge University Press in the Publications of the GHI series. The Fraenkel Prize is awarded annually to two works on the history of twentieth-century Europe.
