There are currently the following employment opportunities at the GHI.

German/English Bilingual Receptionist
The German Historical Institute Washington DC (part of the Max Weber Foundation - International Humanities in Bonn, Germany) seeks to fill the following full-time position as soon as possible:

German/English Bilingual Receptionist

The GHI Washington supports comparative research with a transatlantic focus. It undertakes intermediate and long-term projects in theoretically informed research and praxis-oriented research infrastructures, and seeks to foster inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation.

The primary responsibilities of the position are to handle all incoming telephone calls, greet visitors, monitor service and delivery personnel, and receive and distribute mail and packages.

Other duties include: preparing packages for shipment in the US and Europe, taking reservations for events and maintaining event attendance lists, updating some personnel records, and some data entry.

The successful candidate must be fluent in German and English and have impeccable phone manners. Computer proficiency is required; knowledge of Excel is a plus.
