Biographical Summary
Anke Ortlepp is a Research Fellow at the German Historical Institute. Her research focuses on the intersection of American cultural history and the history of travel and tourism. Trained at the University of Cologne and Harvard University, she is the author of Auf denn, Ihr Schwestern! Deutschamerikanische Frauenvereine in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 1844-1914 and co-edited Taking Up Space: New Approaches to American History. She is currently working on a project entitled Cultures of Airtravel in Postwar America. She has taught at the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne.
