America's Historical Newspapers
  • America's Historical Newspapers allows users to search more than 1,000 U.S. historical newspapers published between 1690 and 1922, including titles from all 50 states. Through partnerships with the American Antiquarian Society, Library of Congress, and others, it enables researchers to explore America during the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Access to "American State Papers, 1789-1838" is also included.

British Newspaper Archive (Please ask Librarian for access)
  • The British Newspaper Archive digitizes up to 40 million historical newspaper pages from most of the runs of newspapers published in the UK since 1800. The articles, family notices, letters, obituaries, and advertisements from the British Library's newspaper collection can be searched by keyword, name, location, date or title.

Diz-Medienport (Please ask Librarian for access)
  • Diz-Medienport mainly serves as the digital archive of the Süddeutsche Zeitung but provides material from other important German newspapers as well. The search is free of charge, the full text costs between 1.50 and 3 Euro.

Financial Times Historical Archive
  • The Financial Times Historical Archive delivers the complete searchable run of the daily business newspaper. Every item printed in the paper, from 1888-2008, can be searched and browsed. Also included are the "Financial Times Magazine" and "How to spend it." The full texts are completely searchable online and all statistics and graphics can be downloaded.

Fold3 (Please ask librarian for access)
  • The Fold3 database provides access to military data going back to the Revolutionary War and up to the Vietnam War. The documents are ordered by the different wars, but the possibility to look for names also make the website helpful for genealogists.
    This database includes newspaper archives.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung /Archiv (Please ask Librarian for access)
  • The GHI allows searching the Archive of the FAZ from 1993 till today, the regional paper of the Rhine-Main area, and the FAZ Sonntagszeitung since 1995 free of charge. Please inform the librarian about the number of viewed and printed articles and ask for an identification number and password.

  • NewspaperOnline provides users with names of the most popular World Newspapers or Magazines which can be searched by the country of publishing. The website redirects you to the newspaper's original homepage.

Nineteenth Century British Library Newspapers
  • The 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection contains full runs of 48 newspapers selected by the British Library to represent nineteenth century Britain. It includes national and regional newspapers and special attention was paid to newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule. The penny papers aimed at the working and clerical classes are also present in the collection.

  • Periodicals Archive Online is an archive of digitized journals published in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. It provides researchers with access to 700 journals and over 14 million article pages in 37 key subject areas. Additionally, it includes more than 100 foreign-language titles.

  • Periodicals Index Online is an electronic index to bibliographic information on articles published in over 6,000 periodicals concerning the arts, humanities and social sciences. Starting with the year 1665, it enables researchers to locate articles relevant to their particular field of study.

Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive 1902-2005
  • The Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive contains every page of every copy of the TLS published between 1902 and 2007. The uses can either browse by date, title, author, illustrator, etc., or search for an entire document or keyword.
