GHI hosted Consular Conference 2012 of the German Embassy

From April 23 to April 24, 2012, the German Historical Institute served the meeting place for the German Honorary Consuls and Consul Generals of the Federal Republic of Germany in the United States. The heads of the German Embassy and leading representatives of German Economic and Research Institutions informed the consuls on current trends in politics, business, public, and science-and the goals of the German foreign policy. An additional highlight of the conference was the welcome address by Ambassador Joao Vale de Almeida, head of the delegation of the European Union to the United States, who made clear that today's German foreign policy is embedded in a broader European foreign policy.
