Dr. Mischa Honeck, Postdoctoral Fellow for North American History at the German Historical Institute, received the 2011 Prize of the Stiftung Deutsch-Amerikanische Wissenschaftsbeziehungen (Foundation for German-American Academic Relations) for his article "A Cheer for Free Labor Cotton: Transatlantic Antislavery Economies and Mid-Nineteenth Century Reform." The prize is awarded annually for an "outstanding contribution" to the study of American history, politics, and society in Germany. The award ceremony took place on June 16, 2011, at the meeting of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Amerikastudien (German Association of American Studies) in Regensburg. The article will be published in the forthcoming volume American Economies, edited by Eva Boesenberg and Martin Klepper (Heidelberg: Winter, 2011). The German Historical Institute extends its warm congratulations.
