GHI Lecture Series

Competing Modernities

With the generous support of the Robert Bosch Stiftung (Stuttgart), the German Historical Institute announces a lecture series for the Spring and Fall 2006: Competing Modernities: Germany and the United States, 1890 to the Present. Through focusing on a series of topics, such as mass democracy, the welfare state, media, and the environment, the goal of this lecture series is to compare systematically the paths of Germany and the United States over an extended period of time.  It also seeks to contribute to public discussion about future social and political developments in the two nations.

All lectures will be held at the:
German Historical Institute
1607 New Hampshire Ave, NW
Washington, DC 20009

Refreshments will be served at 6 pm. Lectures begin at 6:30 pm.
