DCHDC Meetup: In-Person Careers Chat

Sep 19, 2023  | 6:00 - 7:30pm

Speakers:  Suzanne Chase (Georgetown University), Megan Martinsen (Georgetown University), Amaobi Otiji (Library of Congress), Crystal Sanchez (Smithsonian Institution), and Purdom Lindblad (recently the Maryland Institute of Technology in the Humanities)

Please join us for an in-person community conversation about Digital Cultural Heritage career paths and the many different things DCH professionals do!

We are excited to be back at the GHI in Dupont Circle and we’re bringing together a panel of folks from diverse areas of Digital Cultural Heritage who will discuss what led them to their current positions, the most interesting and surprising aspects of their jobs, and how they see their experiences intersecting.

Come with your own work experiences and questions for colleagues to share as we engage in this fun and informative discussion!

It's been a while, but we are looking forward to following our traditional order...

6:00—Arrivals and socializing, with a break partway through for introductions

6:30—Panel discussion: We'll hear from Suzanne Chase (Georgetown University), Megan Martinsen (Georgetown University), Amaobi Otiji (Library of Congress), Crystal Sanchez (Smithsonian Institution), and Purdom Lindblad (recently the Maryland Institute of Technology in the Humanities)

7:00—Announcements and more socializing

7:30—Adjourn the meeting for further discussion.

Digital Cultural Heritage DC is a monthly meetup group for people interested in collecting, preserving and making available digital cultural heritage information. Our meetings begin with a few short lightning talks followed by social information exchange. This is a great networking opportunity for students, as well as anyone interested in learning about digital collections in archives, museums, libraries or anywhere else. We're interested in digital content of all kinds, including film/video, still images, text, datasets, video games and pretty much anything of value in digital form. We are an open and friendly group, and welcome all comers.
