Inner Necessity: The Interior Scenes of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner and Erich
Heckel and their Relationship to the Artists’ Group, Die Brücke
Current Project:
'Project Coordinator of the GHI's German History in Documents and
Images project. Also working on an article on Kirchner’s monumental
group portrait, Die Künstlergruppe Brücke (1925/26),
and a study of Heckel’s 1914 interior scenes, especially those relating
to the series Beim Vorlesen and Im Irrenhaus.
Areas of Interest:
Expressionist painting, architecture, and dance; the garden city movement;
and architecture and politics.
