HISTORY OF THE GHI

Thyssen-Heideking Fellowships

This one-year postdoctoral residential fellowship at the University of Cologne was established in memory of the late Jürgen Heideking. The fellowship, supported by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, is intended for American scholars working in one of the three areas to which Professor Heideking made important contributions: American history and German-American relations from the early modern period to the present; international history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including the history of international relations and the comparative history of colonial systems and societies; and twentieth-century German history, with emphasis on America's influence on German society between 1918 and 1949.
