HISTORY
OF THE GHI
German-American Research Networking Program (GARN)
The German-American Academic Council Foundation made funds available
for a German-American Research Networking Program (GARN) for individuals
who had participated in the Transatlantic Doctoral Seminar on Modern German
History in 1996 and 1997. The main purpose of the program was to provide
networking opportunities and to foster cooperation on joint research projects
between young scholars and scientists from Germany and the United States.
Research teams were composed of participants from both countries, and
team members carried out research on a project, which was formally presented
at a conference.
